EMPOWER Black Women | INSPIRE Black Women | HEAL Black Women

AskthePRGirl Presents: I’m Not Yelling

BLACK WOMEN AT WORK

The “angry black woman” trope, bias and microaggressions that plague Black women in corporate have levied an undue level of emotional trauma while building a career. While the social reckoning after George Floyd’s murder in 2020 triggered widespread investment in diversity, equity and inclusion, the subsequent corporate fatigue from accountability to the moral imperative has introduced increased performance scrutiny, predatory behavior and retaliation specifically against Black Women in the workplace.

THE FACTS

Media reports and research studies reveal disproportionate treatment and unbalanced expectations to outperform, code switch, and create culture comfort due to the threat of opportunity loss, or punitive action, leaving many feeling alone, frustrated, trapped, and hopeless.
